I HATE US BANK

Red-head me
I'm in training. I'm supposed to be learning about Ameritrade systems instead of Waterhouse ones. but I'm so bored that I just can't focus.

US BANK SUCKS BIG DONEKY DICK!

I had a direct deposit that was supposed to go into my account on a Friday. It didn't. Mind you, I found the check on Sunday and deposited it into the ATM on Sunday night. I have been told previously that Fri after 3pm and Mon before 3pm are processed as 1 business day. NOPE. Not so. I was charged 6 overdraft fees at $35 a pop. That's $210 dollars. I called customer service and they credited back two of them because that's all they're allowed to do. I went to my branch and the lady there told me that they only reverse fees if there's a bank error. I explained the situation and they agreed that it wasn't really my fault. So, she offered to credit back 1/2 of 3 of the overdraft fees. Mind you, I'd also had to pay a finance charge to draw on my next direct deposit inorder to pay for all of the fees, plus the automatice withdrawal from my insurance company. So at this point, I've paid $244, minus $70 the CS rep credited back. When she told me they'd credit back 1/2 of the other 3, I thanked her, but told her I'd still be looking for another banking institution.

PAY ATTENTION BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE IT GETS REALLY GOOD

She told me that if I closed my account within 90 days, they would reverse all of the charges that were credited back and charge me for everything. I said you've got to be kidding me! So, what could I do? I smiled, said that I'd keep my money there, and proceeded downtown to immediately open an account at Wells Fargo. FUCK US BANK.

Uggg, I had the same problem with US Bank. I'm going to switch banks when I get home b/c they sucked donkey dick when I needed to get money but my atm card didnt work in BUlgaria. Seems there is no other option in this case. Well I certainly dont like hearing that I cant have access to my money just because I'm in another country and all my friends have access to theirs. It was a US Bank exclusive problem.

Join a Credit Union. The bank is geared towards the shareholder (You)

Some of the nice things I love about my CU.

Having 14 tellers on a Friday instead of 2

INSTANT accessibility to deposited funds, whether in person, through an ATM ect.

Low Loan rates (Auto loan...which they keep dropping because Im good and pay it on time)

Just gennerally good service and not trying to stick me with a fee for this and that.

Joined a credit union and never looked back at the others.

That's a good idea. I have a car loan through the Gallup Federal Credit Union, but I don't work there any more. I wonder if I'm still eligible to open an account with them, though they only have 1 or 2 atms in the whole damn city.

I don't know. I'm happy with Wells Fargo, so we'll see how that goes for now.

Ive had Wells Fargo... they will F you the same as US Bank or any other bank like them. Why? Because they are out to turn a profit for those people who have bought stock in their company and that means squeezing their customers for every little BS fee.

Keep in mind though that Credit unions Coop with other credit unions (At least around here)So you can usually Go to credit union B and not get charged ATM fees.

Sides with the linked credit card how often are you using the ATM?

Just my 0.2 cents Ive done 4-5 diffrent banks and its the exact same deal.

Oh one other thing when my Grandfather in law died and my MIL needed help
paying for the funeral expeneses the CU gave it to me looking beyond my credit at the actual dire straits I was in.

Probably if you have a car loan they will let you set up an account. Heh Im in a teachers credit Union and Im not a teacher ;)

Banks in California are just bastards--I do remember that much from my brief stint there.

However, I have a personal banker and she's awesome. If I need something, I'll just call Serene and she'll take care of it for me. And if she doesn't, then I'll very politely, very quietly, close my account and start over elsewhere.

Credit union is still a really good idea, though.

US Bank did me a royal screwin' during my divorce. This is an ongoing thing with them, methinks. I'd take care of whatever you need to in order to even out your account...then switch banks. I'm with Tier One, and I've been fairly happy with them so far. :)

US bank is really a piece of shit. It's good to know they still haven't changed. I had a simular issue about ten years ago when they were whatever name they were back then.

Credit unions are good and so is First National.

I bet if you complained more you could get more of those fees reversed. e-mail a customer service manager, a operations manager, and try and get a name of a VP.

Even if they do reverse more charges I'd leave them though. They treat their customers like shit.

I think I'll draft a letter to the Distric Manager or something and send a copy of it to the manager at my local branch and to the woman who threatened me.

Yes. ~nods head decisively~
